S. Davis???

Postby T-DIDDY » Thu Dec 18, 2003 2:26 pm

Has anybody heard anything about S. Davis??? Will he start? Will he split carries? or will he not play at all? I know Carolina has clinched their division, but is home field advantage not a question? Do they not have anything to play for? Did I just ask too many questions???

I'm not sure if he's playing or not. They are playing Detroit, who shouldn't give them too much trouble, but I can't see them sitting Davis the whole game. I'm hoping the worst case is that he splits carries. I can't afford to have him sit since the guy I'm playing picked up Foster before I had a chance to. :~(

I copied this off of yahoo player news from fanball.com:

Dec 18 - A team source has told Fanball publisher Paul Charchian that Stephen Davis is unlikely to play in Sunday’s game against the Lions. If he did play, it would be in a highly limited role. Further, Davis may not play in the season finale in New York on the 28th. Davis has been nursing an ankle injury for several weeks. DeShaun Foster will get the majority of the workload in Davis’ stead.

Views: If it were needed, Davis could play; but with their playoff position locked between third and fourth, there is little reason to press him into action. The source indicates that the team realizes that any expectations of advancement require Davis to be healthy.

I picked up Foster yesterday when I heard Davis might be out. I may have to use him instead of Portis this week.

Looks like I'm starting Foster vs Detroit instead of Ricky vs. Buffalo. This super bowl should be a nail biter.

Me
Manning vs Den
Holt vs Cin
Moss vs NE
McCariens @Hou
Jones vs Atl
Foster vs Det
Williams @Jax
Wilkins vs Cin
Tennessee @ Hou

Them
Culpepper vs KC
Smith vs Det
Warrick @Stl
Price @TB
Green @Oak
Edge vs Den
Mili vs Ari
Vinatieri @NYJ
Denver @Ind

I'm hoping my strong home game vs weak teams schedule will offset his RB advantage. Also a better DEF matchup and NE's long snapper problems hopefully gives me an advantage with the kicker as well...

Davis will most likely sit for the rest of the regular season, as the Panthers can do no better than their current #3 seed in the NFC.

Last I heard, Artose Pinner might get the majority of carries to finish out the season. Bryson might be a worse play than usual.

I expect Davis to sit so I'm going to play Foster.

Don't rely too much on matchups. Sometimes it doesn't mean crap. Last week I had these easy matchups.

B. Johnson v. Houston
Moss v. Chi
McCardell v. Houston
Portis v. Clev
Davis v. Ariz
Heap v. Oak

and lost to a guy starting these players

Favre
Boldin
Boston
Faulk
F. Taylor
S. Sharpe

Mainly because B. Johnson, McCardell, and Davis didn't do Sh**
