Chaos in my league because of tie's! Opinions! Please!

Ok theres the deal. There is a 3 way tie in Division 1 of my league. Playoff start this Sunday of course.

Team #1 is 7-7
Team #2 is 7-7
Team #3 is 7-7

Team #1 has beaten team #2 Twice this season
Team #1 has split with team #3 this season
Overall record against teams 2&3 is 3-1

Team #2 has lost to team #1 twice this season
Team #2 has lost to team #3 twice this season
Overall record against teams 1 & 3 is 0-4

Team # 3 has split with team #1 this season
Team #3 has beaten team #2 twice this season
Overall record against Teams #1 and #2 is 3-1

This has caused my league to argue viciously about how to do a triple tie-breaker. Any ideas please! There were no rules in place for a 3 way tie. The 2 way tie rule is how they fared against each other head to head and, if they split, then it goes to overall points.

Keep the system you have,team 2 is out because of their record against the other two.Since teams 1 & 3 split,it comes down to who scored the most points between the two.

In my league, in the event of what you have there, the winning place goes to the team with the most number of total points scored over the entire season.

Guttpuppy and Murray are right - the tiebreakers should remain the same as they would have in a two-way tie. Team #2 is eliminated on the first tiebreaker, and it then comes down to which of the other two teams scored more points over the course of a season. Hope that's not a tie as well... Good thing you had the two-way tie-breaker rules in place, though! At least you have a basis for making this call.

It'll be awfully tough for the two teams that don't make it, though, especially the one that loses on the second tie-breaker. Ouch!

There's no other way but to seperate ties than by points.

It's why we play the games right? Fantasy points?!

Agreed. Team 2 is out. Since Team 1 and 3 split, then overall points should be the deciding factor. If that were a tie for some odd reason, then I would go to most points in the games between the two teams.

This should be an easy solution, even if there was no agreement in particular on a three-way tie the rules easily tell which team should have the right to advance!
