I think Jim Brown was in it too, but not very early in his acting career.

I realized after I posted this, it was too ambiguous. So here's a clue.

Early 1970's was the film and he played from 1961-68.

Are you certain it's 61-68 that he played? I know most football movies and I can't find anyone playing in those years.

Burt Reynolds? Was a college football player and he played a football player/felon in a movie that I cannot remember the name.

Eddie Arnold was the Warden and I believe Jim Brown was in it to. The prison team name was The Mean Machine"
