Warner back maybe as Ram's starter next season

Postby jebatzel » Sun Jan 11, 2004 5:18 pm

John Clayton seems to think so

Bulger's bid to be the Rams franchise quarterback was intercepted Saturday along with three of his passes. Kurt Warner isn't going anywhere, folks. Though he might have to reconfigure his contract, Warner will be the starting quarterback for the Rams -- not the Cowboys or the Dolphins -- next fall. Bulger will have to learn how to handle being a backup again so that he can pick up the necessary charisma to win these close playoff games.

Bulger didn't come through in the big game. He had his chance. Now, it's time for Warner to return. Expect that next year.

I think Bulger is going to get the heat more than anyone for the Rams' loss.

haha this should be a fun discussion. I still think bulger is better until warner does something other than fumble and throw INT's.

Bulger has lost 4 games as a starter.... He had a bad game, so what? Oh well, leave it to Martz.

Bulger had 22 tds and 22 ints, way to many ints if you ask me.

plus 3 more in the playoffs.

I don't think Bulger is ready to take over yet for a full season for the Rams.

I cheered against the Rams Yesterday

Martz is an idiot.

Yeah, Bulger kind of fell apart towards the end of the season, but Warner hasn't performed much better over the last two seasons. Oh well, hopefully the Seahawks will play the Rams early next season and get a win or two before Martz realizes his potential mistake.

...That's kind of odd to read from John Clayton, though. He's fairly reliable and I wouldn't expect him to go into speculation-mode, ala Gammons with his baseball rumors.

bulger is a horrible QB...22ints is WAY to many....but hell warner can fumble 22 times so id say they are pretty screwed at QB unless warner can hang on to the ball or bulger can quit throwing the picks

Holy shit man. I know 22 INTs is a lot, but you guys are acting like he is a 5 year vet. He has had 1.5 years of starting experience in the NFL. Manning threw 28 INTs his first year (also 23 & 19 just two seasons ago). Cut the guy some slack.

I know. These guys are brutal. Last season, Culpepper had 23 Ints and 9 fumbles lost, yet this year ya'll think he's a star.
Bulger will be a good QB. This was a valuable learning experience for him.

After watching Manning rip apart defenses the last 2 games (and during the season for the most part), it seems unbelievable that he had 28 Interceptions in his first year !!!!
