4&1, up by 3, John Fox will have no problem running Stephen Davis to put the game away and advance to the SB.

Only if John Kasay does not miss too many field goals and Davis is healthy, I will take Panthers.

In my mind, Carolina rocks the Eagles. ;-D

I like Carolina as well. I mean the packers basically gave the game away to the eagles

No Doubt! The Packers made some critical mistakes in that game, and gave it away. I'm also liking Carolina.

Early fantasy thoughts on Carolina @ Philly

Postby The Lung » Sun Jan 11, 2004 9:34 pm

The obvious choice is the Carolina running game versus the leaky Eagles run defense. The only question is who is going to get the carries - Davis or Foster? (with Goings possibly vulturing carries as well!) Anybody heard anything on Davis' injury status?

I definitely don't see Delhomme putting up phenomenal stats against Philly, but Steve Smith is too hot *not* to play right now. Mushi seems too risky a start, as well as kicker Kasay, who missed two kicks in a dome this week.

If Green Bay can get 8 sacks against Philly, what will the Carolina defense do? They also held St. Louis' rushing in check, and without Westbrook, Philly's running is pretty anemic if you throw out McNabb's rushing yards. With no success on the ground, I see McNabb looking to the air and getting picked off a couple times next week. Start the Carolina D with confidence.

Correspondingly, I don't like any Eagles offensive players against Carolina. Whether it's WRs, RBs, or TEs, there's just too many committees. You could start McNabb at QB, but the better fantasy play is Manning, or even Brady against the softer Colts defense, in my opinion. The Eagles defense doesn't stand out to me as a particularly strong play next week.

This is going to be a very interesting game. Both teams are beatable, we'll see what happens.
