As to my other question, does anybody on here play with a headset? Does anybody have an off-brand online adpater? An easy one, how many USB ports does the PS2 have?

OK, I saw the GoNet one for sale. I heard that it doesn't work for all games, is this true? If so, what games does it not work with? Any good ones?
Every game I've tried works (Socom, Madden, NCAA, ESPN NBA Basketball, Tony Hawk series...)
I heard that all the games that you need the startup disk to play don't work. I guess that makes sense since it doesn't come with the sony start-up disk. I think I will just save the $30 and get a Linksys or GoNet one.
Anther question, my TV is a little ways away from my router and I don't have a fifty foot long Ethernet cable. I have a long phone cord though, is there any way I ca hook it up like that? I am not real familiar with this stuff as you can see.
Yea, you can use a phone cord, but only if you're internet access is thru a phone modem. If you're running cable, it won't work. Even then, 56K is a very slow speed, and you're not gonna have much fun playing online. If you have roadrunner or some other cable internet, I reccommend getting wireless receivers for your PS2. Nyko Wireless net extenders run for about $99...kinda costly. But other than finding a 50 foot ethernet cord, they are pretty much your best bet.

I think I might have a solution, I can move the TV into the same room I have the router in. I have Bellsouth DSL so it isn't 56k. It isn't as fast as cable but it isn't as slow as dial-up. I will still need maybe a 10 foot cord but it still will be cheaper than buying a wireless plug.
