New Forum - New Team???

Postby Mercer Boy » Mon Jan 19, 2004 8:59 pm

Well, here were are starting a new team-based board format. I hope that there are still some 49er fans out there that aren't too scared about liking the Red, White, and Gold. It will be good to come here and see what other fans are hearing about the Niners. Personally, I am thinking the team will be pretty different next year, full of more young players and developing talent. I'm hoping they try to model themselves after the Patriots this year (disciplined, balanced team defense) but still keep that great West Coast offensive style in play so that they can run up the score when the opportunity presents itself. So, here's to the start of a new board and hopefully some good info and fun between fans of the 49ers! ;-D

I only hope they fire Erickson.....After one season I have had it with this guy,he took a playoff team and screwed it up...

I think this has to be the worst coaching job since Pete Carroll took over the Pats when Parcels left the team...

IMO, the biggest problem with SF last year was the inconsistency of Jeff Garcia. Injuries may have played a part at the beginning of the year, but he looked absolutely pathetic in many of their losses.

Personally, I think we're in for a long season if/when TO leaves town. The 49'ers have several guys that would make great #2 receivers, but I don't see anyone that will command double-teams consistently. Get ready to see 8 in the box every week.

I couldn't agree more. I still say the top priority is fixing the secondary. IMO, the 49ers haven't had a good secondary since the days of Tim MacDonald, Deion Sanders, and my second favorite 49er of all time Merton Hanks (aka "Neck Boy"). While they're at it, they better find a reliable kicker so that those close losses become close wins (at least 3 of them this year due to kicking).

There kicking situation is pathetic, we definitely need to shore up that situation. Garcia is a pro-bowl QB and he should return to form this year after an injury plagued season.
