For the 4th time in the last 5 years........................

Postby brdmaverick » Tue Jan 20, 2004 5:22 pm

..........the Super Bowl will be won by a team that failed to make the playoffs the previous season.

the Ravens, Rams, Patriots, and the winner of the Pats/Panthers will have accomplished this feat within the past five years

it tells you something about the ever changing luck in the NFL. Coaches have very short leashes now, because when you see guys turn around franchises such as Belicheck and Fox have done, you expect every head coach to be able to do it.

I just thought this stat might be a surprise to some people.

So for all you Falcons, Vikings, and Dolphins fans, who knows, maybe next year is your year.

Perfect example of parity...the Steelers knew this and are ready to make it happen again next season to stay with the trend.

Thats great, IMO.. Dynasties are good in story books but parity is great for the sport. Just love it.

Hate to say it but if Boller can get on track and if Baltimore can pick up a go to wideout, they could be really tough. They're defense is going to be very good with Lewis, Boulware, Hartwell, and Suggs playing LB, then they've got a solid secondary with McAlister, Demps, and Reed back there.
