Owens: To keep me, get rid of Garcia

Postby 49ers Forever » Sat Jan 24, 2004 12:39 pm

TO came out with a quote on his site that basically stated that he would consider working out a deal to stay in the cardinal and gold IF the 49ers would go on the hunt for a QB who has the skills that he does. Someone to show him off more. So, in his mind, get rid of Garcia and then structure the offense around me, and I will stay.

Thoughts?

Now T.O. wants to make personnell decisions. Sounding more like MeShawn all the time. Watch for his production to start to drop as he grows more fond of his own voice than of doing the work invovled in being an elite NFL player.

I think he better retire football and start thinking about his presidential campaign. Meshawn could be his vice president. Now that would be scary.

What am I missing here?

4163 receiving yards
42 TDs.

That's what TO had from the 2000-2002 seasons with Garcia taking over as the fulltime starter. He even missed 4 games during that 3 year period due to injury.

1100 yards and 9 TDs is a little down from his 3 year average, but if you factor in the 15 or so catchable balls he dropped this year, and he is right back up there.

I couldn't see him fitting into Philadelphia. McNabb would probably choke him on the sidelines during the season.
