The Future of the NFL at the RB position?

Postby The Great Gambini » Mon Jan 26, 2004 10:09 am

A few guys to watch...

T.J. Duckett, future of the Falcons?
Eddie George, with the Titans or not?
Lee Suggs, future Browns star?
Duce Staley, where's he going?
DeShaun Foster, future top 10 back?
Willis McGahee, Bills future?
LaMont Jordan, the heir to Curtis Martin?
Chris Brown, the heir apparent to Eddie George?
Lamar Gordon, life after Marshall Faulk?
Larry Johnson, the Priest's eventual replacement?
Justin Fargas, the next Raider back?
Ladell Betts, future of the Redskins?
Trung Canidate, will he ever get another chance?
Kevin Faulk, the future of the Patriots?
Anthony Thomas, will he be replaced?

Would any of these guys be decent number 3 fantasy backs next year?

duckett-no-not agile enough
george-probably-sharing carries though, thought i saw somewhere he was willing to take a cut to stay...
suggs-probably-he only had a couple big games but they need a young RB
foster-yeah-this is really his first full year
mcgahee-yeah-i cant see him being a great back but theyll use him
jordan-yeah-hell get alll the TDs, then hell just get all carries
brown-yeah-probably not fully next year though
gordon-hell no
LJ-probably in a few years-was great in college
fargas-im thinking yes-they need new life
betts-hell no-gibbs wont take him as a starter, theyll look in FA or draft
candidate-not as a starter
faulk-no-either a smith will beat him or theyll pick up one from FA or draft

I agree with him but another guy...Onterrio Smith, he is not going to be the starter anytime soon and will just be in rbbc for a while...

Hey M Zimm, I was wondering if you could give me any tips on creating a picture with my name on it like you have in your signature? Thanks.

I just think that Travis Henry is too good to kick to the curb in favor of a recovering player who has yet to play a down in the pros.

T.J. Duckett, future of the Falcons?
fat

Eddie George, with the Titans or not?
restructure (likely) or gone.

Lee Suggs, future Browns star?
he'll get his shot, they got no one else

Duce Staley, where's he going?
Chicago...darkhorse pick is Oakland or NYJ

DeShaun Foster, future top 10 back?
Davis's job til he loses it to injury or ineffectiveness. He'll be more productive than most backups.

Willis McGahee, Bills future?
wasted pick

LaMont Jordan, the heir to Curtis Martin?
Not the answer. Short yardage/goalline only.

Chris Brown, the heir apparent to Eddie George?
He definitely needs to be worked into the offense more.

Lamar Gordon, life after Marshall Faulk?
As long as Faulk keeps getting injured, he'll see some time.

Ladell Betts, future of the Redskins?
Trung Canidate, will he ever get another chance?

Most likely a committee

Kevin Faulk, the future of the Patriots?
3rd down back

Anthony Thomas, will he be replaced?
2004 = contract year

Suggs, Staley & Thomas are your best bets for #3 RBs.

you're right zimm, but IMO onterrio should be at the top of that list. and every game that the vikes continue their rbbc they are missing out on a great back. he is one of the most talented backs in the league and definately the best one in minny.

That's a big statement there, buddy. First of all, I think Michael Bennett is the best RB in Minny. And if you have watched more than just this season, you would have to agree with me. Onterrio Smith is very unproven, he's had two good games against lackluster defenses.

And when you say one of the most talented backs in the league, I think we're talking about maybe a top 10 RB, and Onterrio isn't close to that. Not yet, anyway.
