Portis...Holdout???

throw this in ...portis has denied threatening to hold out on training camp...he says he is prepared to play even with his current contract, though he wont be satisfied with it.

Maybe the Broncos feel like they can do fine without Portis. Every running back to go through there recently has been successful. Davis, Gary, Anderson, and now Portis. Their O-line is pulling the load. Don't get me wrong though, Portis is a great player.

Yes, I never said Griffin was as good, never. What we both said is that they may be able to do fine without him. He is one of the best RBs in the league and is a threat to go all the way every play but they could live without him. Their line is one of the best in the league and can make almost any RB succeed. If Griffin doesn't do good they can just settle for another 1300 yard year by Anderson. Mods, go ahead and lock this thread though, this arguement is going nowhere and there is no way the Broncos would trade him.

I'm not a capologist (none of us are I don't think), so I can't really say how bad they are at a shade under $2M over the cap. It doesn't seem so horrible to me. Last year they were about $20M over the cap.

Well, I don't even know what a "capologist" is....but this sounds bad to me.

The Broncos are already almost $5 million over the salary cap for the coming season and still want to re-sign Pro Bowl middle linebacker Al Wilson, unrestricted free-agent linebacker Ian Gold, defensive end Bertrand Berry and fullback Reuben Droughns. -ESPN

If I were Portis, I wouldn't hold my breath for much extra from the Broncos.
