Brunell to Redskins - "An Almost Done Deal"

The Redskins are closing in on a trade to acquire Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell, several team and NFL sources told ESPN.com.

A deal for Brunell could be completed in the coming week if all the components fall into line.

Maybe to help mentor Ramsey? I don't really see a need for Brunell going to DC...does anyone here see it?

I was thinking that maybe Gibbs doesn't think that Ramsey will fit well in his system. Or maybe he wants a mobile QB to make up for their lackluster offensive line. I don't really get it. Ramsey did well this season under Spurrier. Whatever the reason, I think Gibbs knows what he's doing and won't make the dumb deals that Spurrier did.

I remember Brunell saying earlier this year that he won't play anywhere that he wont be the starter. Does this mean that he is going to start over Ramsey??? The other rumor was that they wanted a 2nd or 3rd rd pick for him. We'll be down to 3 or 4 picks I believe. What are the odds we trade Ramsey?

I'm sure there would be no shortage of teams who would want him. Maybe Green Bay? Oakland? Dallas? Miami?

wow i though the skins were set with a very good young qb and good back up in hasselbeck. that would be one of the last places i would expect brunell to go. how wierd. maybe gibbs is getting too old.

@$#%!!! I have ramsey on my team (thank god i have brooks too)...but i reallly hope he starts SOMEWHERE next year...but oh well

i could see ramsey in:
miami-they obviously are looking
pittsburgh-they are lookign for a franchise QB
parcells likes quincy so i dont see him leaving
mayube oakland but they might be thinking tuiasosopo could take over.
and there no saying he still wont be a good keeper...he just may not be playing in DC, where he gets sacked so much
