Head coach Dennis Green is not only sold on Josh McCown as his starter for 2004, but he's counting on McCown to be around for a long time. As such, Green told the East Valley Tribune that the chances of the Cardinals drafting a quarterback in the first three rounds are "slim." The Cardinals have the third overall selection in the first round. "Josh McCown, I think he is going to be a great one," Green said. "I think people have a hard time believing it, but when I buy into a quarterback, I really do. That's my track record. Nothing against Eli Manning or Drew Henson or Ben Roethlisberger, but we have to be sold on what we see a player do. The proof...will be how Josh McCown does over the next few years." Green did not completely rule out drafting a quarterback in the first round. The Cardinals will be in attendance for the Henson showcase later this week, and CFL star Ricky Ray came in for a tryout last week. Currently McCown and Preston Parsons are the only two quarterbacks on the roster.
I thought for sure they would drft Roethlisberger and still have him going to the Cards on my mock but this could throw a definite wrinkle into the draft.
