This is one of the best drafts in recent memory.
You have:
2 Blue-chip QB prospects (Manning and Roethlisberger)
3 Elite WR Prospects (Fitzgerald and Roy and Reggie Williams)
The best TE prospect Ever (Winslow Jr.)
2 Franchise offensive tackles (Gallery and Andrews)
2 Very Good RB prospects (Jackson and Jones)
2 Very Good Defensive Tackles (Harris and Wilfork)
The best Safety prospect ever (Sean Taylor)
A wild card potential stud in Clarett
The best kicker prospect in recent years (Kaeding)
(Yea I know its just a kicker)
2 Highly Touted DE prospects (Udeze and W. Smith)
The only 2 potential areas of weakness are CB (where Gamble, Robinson, and DeAngelo Hall are still exceptional) and LB (Where Vilma and DJ Williams are no slouchs in their own rights)
Sorry for getting so into this but I feel really strongly about this.
Eh, this seems a little over the top....Best TE and Safety prospects EVER? I think you may be pushing your luck there....RB's and D-linemen are weak by most year's standards (although RB's have been weak the last few years). Remember last year when everyone was trading up to a top 10 pick just so they could get the 5th best D-lineman available? This year the first one might not be taken until #10...
Also, I wouldn't call Reggie Williams and elite WR prospect when there's no talk of him going top 10...Elite seems to me top 3-5...ala rogers and johnson last year, and fitz this year, though I think Roy Williams will also make a great NFL WR...
I think what PP is saying is that if they don't take a QB at #3, they can't really justify taking anyone else except MAYBE Gallery (though they've been drafting lots of o-linemen recently).
Fitz won't fall and they don't need Taylor because they have safeties. No D-linemen can be justified going anywhere near #3, and #3 is to high for Roy Williams who is projected around #8 in most drafts. No CB's worthy of a top 5 pick a la Newman last year. They've already got an above average TE, etc.
Basically, their options are very limited, even trading down will be difficult because SD is looking to trade away a better pick...
