East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey underwent arthroscopic surgery Wednesday on his injured left knee.
The procedure was performed at Doctors Hospital on the campus of the University of Miami, Shockey's alma mater.
"This was a planned procedure," Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said. "Jeremy was here for 10 days working to rehabilitate his knee and still suffered some discomfort. After consultation, it was agreed that this was the proper course of action."
Shockey originally injured his knee in a November 9 game against Atlanta and missed the final seven games of New York's 4-12 season.
He finished the campaign with 48 catches for 535 yards and two touchdowns and has 122 career receptions for 1,429 yards and four scores in two seasons.
