I remember Tyler Hamilton riding the Tour de France with a broken collarbone, and was actually a big factor in the race. Unbelievable. I thought at the time that the guy was pretty dang tough. But Hillary ... I don't know about that one. She's more suited to a 'smart" list than a tough one but I'll give her credit ... she bites like a bulldog.

There's a big differance between overcoming unforseen, terrible situations, and creating terrible forseen situations. Puttting a bunch of staples into your nuts (etc.) nowhere near makes you a tough guy. In fact, it's the kind of lame, hollow, tough guy attitude that in the past has always made the dude in the bar who could put the cigarrette out on his arm, the butt of everyone's joke. (i.e. making yourself feel pain does not make you a tough guy, it just makes you stupid). Manufactured toughness is a load of crap. Toughness arises in real life situations, and the nature of a man is judged by these situations.
This being said, John McCain would destroy Steve-O in a death match.

Do you guys really think that Brett is the toughest guy in America? Tougher than policemen, firemen, and even the military? I don't even think he's the toughest athlete, just think of all the hockey players.
In my opinion, this list is ridiculous.

Was wonderin when somebody would say it. I figured it would look better coming from somebody that isn't a Vikings fan. That list in completely ridiculous. I'm with V-Hawk.
Okay, submitted not as "Fantasy Tough Guy Rankings"
I submitted this to the forum because of all the exceptional examples of man overcoming the odds and triumphing and loved most of the examples given by the Mag.
Forget your fantasy preferance to judge to rankings, who cares about some dumb magazine rankings, and read the stories of these men as individuals. If you cannot be inspired by the stories of these men, then you are even more cynical than me (and that's a hard thing).
