Drew Henson Workout...

Postby Canacuna » Fri Feb 13, 2004 12:40 am

Here's a link about Drew Henson's workout in Houston today...

Drew Henson Showcases Football Skills for Scouts

The article didn't go into much detail about the workout itself, but it stated that the only teams to have their head coaches in attendance were the Green Bay Packers and the Buffalo Bills.

Head coaches Mike Sherman of Green Bay and Mike Mularkey of Buffalo were in attendance. So was Houston-area resident Roger Clemens, one of Henson's former Yankees teammates.

On ESPN, Len Pasquerelli and John Clayton said that only 9 of his 75 passes missed, but only four of those were off target. He was throwing to Sylvester Morris, so you know he was bound to miss a few of 'em. Anyway, they also said that his deep ball was looking accurate, too.

From most of the scouting reports I've seen, he's projected to go as a late first rounder to mid second rounder.

That is, if no one decides to give up draft picks for him. Anyone think there's a chance of that happening?

Has Drew Henson even signed with the Texans yet? I was under the impression he had his choice of signing with them and pretty much choosing where he is traded to, or enter the NFL Draft and make more money (he can only make about $400,000 - standard sixth rounder money).

I guess you are right. I thought since the Texans had his rights they could just do whatever with him, but it looks like that is not the case if he has to sign first. We could have a J.D. Drew situation on our hands. It would really suck for Houston to get screwed over like that, but I bet he doesn't sign with them so he can get more money...

Is he considered a rookie? Or would he be a veteran?

He has never played in the NFL so he is a rookie.

i wouldn't waste anything trading to him he hasn't proven himself yet. So he can throw to an unguarded wr with no pass ruch or dbs i am still skeptical
