Dennis Green Wants #1 Draft Pick...

Postby Canacuna » Mon Mar 01, 2004 11:12 pm

SignOnSanDiego.com wrote:In Arizona, Dennis Green, enamored with wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, is said to be championing a trade in which the Cardinals would exchange their first-round draft selection, No. 3, for the Chargers' No. 1 choice. As compensation, San Diego would receive 6-6, 372-pound offensive guard Leonard Davis.
Making this trade would position the San Diego club to come out of the draft with two offensive linemen, Davis and whomever Marty Schottenheimer would identify on the choice obtained from Arizona. But Davis' notices in Arizona have not been flattering.

Cardinals Push Trade

That's not a bad offer. San Diego would get a good offensive lineman and would also have a shot at one of, or both, Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger.

Apparently Dennis Green is close with Larry Fitzgerald and his dad from his Minnesota days...

Anquan Boldin, Bryant Johnson, AND Larry Fitzgerald in Dennis Green's offensive system. Wow. Hopefully Josh McCown will turn out as well as Green seems to think he will.

It would be absolutely great for the Chargers. They could probably grab Gallery with the 3rd pick and sure up one of their most glaring weaknesses. I cannot believe Arizona would do this. It sounds like a very stupid idea to me.

That would be a decent for both teams I guess (well fantasywise I suppose). I don't know Davis' story but he seems like a mammoth offensive lineman. I don't know what the Chargers plan on doing then with the No. 3 pick but if they would take Gallery (this may not be in their plans at all), that would be a huge boost to the O-line.

On the other side, yeah, having Boldin and Fitz to contend with would be difficult. I'm certain these guys are both top flight wideouts in the near future and AZ probably can't keep them both long, but if McCown is worth anything, he'll have to be considered a big sleeper.

Wow, are the Cardinals even gonna put a defense on the field or just implement a system that awards the opposing team either 3 or 7 points based on a coin flip every possession?

Wow, am I missing something here, or was Davis not the guy the Cards took with a top 5 overall pick a few years ago?

If it was, then it's the guy I'm thinking of, and the Cards are just plain insane.

The Chargers would make out like a bandit here, wow, the possibilities are limitless.

KG, that is some funny stuff. From a fantasy perspective, this would be sweet. McCown = huge sleeper if this happens for two reasons. First, Denny Green's new version of CC, Moss and Jake Reed in the form of B. Johnson, Boldin and Fitz. Second, they will always be playing from behind, as the King so aptly pointed out. Great stuff.

That's great that Green and Fitz's dad are such good buds, but to go out of your way to draft the kid is just plain dumb. No I am not saying that Fitz isn't a no-brainer, but to trade for the top pick and use it to pick a player in the area your team is strongest is stupid. They have a great WR 1-2 punch with Boldin & Johnson. Classic Cards move, leaves you shaking your head.

I agree. It would be stupid to draft someone just because of family friendship, if that's what it is. I would rather try to get the player that can best help my team become balanced on both sides of the ball. Boldin is a stud, so why do you create a WR controversy by having two studs? You'll probably end up with a Moulds/Price situation where one wants to eventually leave anyway to become "the man."
