Houston, TX (Sports Network) - In an effort to solidify both lines, the Houston Texans signed offensive tackle Todd Wade and defensive tackle Robaire Smith.
The moves come just one day after the Texans re-signed defensive end Gary Walker to a contract extension.
The 26-year-old Smith played his first four professional season in Tennessee. He appeared in all 16 games for the Titans in 2003, tying his career high with 73 tackles, adding a career-best 4 1/2 sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one pass defensed.
The 6-foot-4, 310-pounder is a significant addition to a Houston defense that ranked 31st in rush defense last season, allowing 148.1 yards per game.
Wade comes over to the Texans after four seasons in Miami. The 6-foot-8, 315- pounder has missed just one start in his four years since being drafted in the second round of the 2000 draft.
