Rams re-sign punter Landeta

Postby WebHamster on Fri Mar 05, 2004 3:01 am

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Rams re-signed veteran punter Sean Landeta to a one-year contract Thursday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Landeta, the NFL's all-time leading punter with 1,327 career punts, was signed in March of 2003 after spending the previous four seasons in Philadelphia.

He punted 59 times for the Rams last season, and his average of 42.8 yards was fifth-best in the NFC.

Landeta has spent five of his 19 NFL seasons in a Rams uniform, also playing for the franchise from 1993-96. At 42-years-old, he ranks second all-time in NFL history with 365 punts landing inside the 20-yard-line.

St. Louis also announced Thursday the signing of punter Mark Jensen, who will be allocated to NFL Europe.
