Flowery Branch, GA (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Falcons signed unrestricted free agent cornerback Jason Webster on Friday.
Drafted in the second round by San Francisco in 2000, Webster started 44 of the 53 games he played in for the 49ers. The 5-foot-9, 187-pound Texas A&M product recorded seven interceptions during his tenure in the Bay Area.
"Jason fits the mold of what we are trying to create on defense," said Atlanta president and general manager Rich McKay. "He is tough, aggressive and plays with the kind of attitude we are trying to establish."
Webster started 41 consecutive games for the Niners coming into the 2003 campaign, but a knee injury that occurred in training camp shelved the 26- year-old for the first nine games of the season.
