He looked good with Tampa a few years ago, but then was buried on the bench since then. Anyone think he will challenge Josh McCown for the top spot, or has Dennis Green already announced McCown will be the starter in '04?

McCown is no sure thing. He isn't even a heavily invested in product (ie Carson Palmer, Byron Leftwich; soon-to-be Manning/Roethlisberger). Therefore... if the King deal is similar to the deal Delhomme signed in Carolina last year, it is a low-risk/high-reward deal for the Cards.
This is great signing for them, since King showed flashes in the past. At least to be a Kitna, Dilfer type which isn't great... but it isn't Ty Detmer either.

Will he start or be a backup? He can start and might be what Green need in his offence. Looks like he will be a backup though incase McNown crashes and burns.

Yeah no kidding. If they don't trade up, they'd better hope someone ahead of them takes one (ie not fitz and williams with the first 2 picks) or they're gonna be stuck with a nasty little situation.
ive been reading that Arizona doe sin fact want to move up to the #1 spot to ensure the pick of Larry Fitz.. I think that would be a stellar move for almost any cost. To give Green his desert version of Randy Moss. Shaun King may be his Brad Johnson, Randall Cunningham or Jeff Goerge of Arizona.

i agree. i think SK will make a great addition down in AZ. although i also think he may take the starting job away from McCown, if that is his to lose anyway.

yea he has a huge upside but i think he will be primarily a backup
