Garcia signs 4 yr deal with Browns

Postby jeru » Tue Mar 09, 2004 1:20 am

ESPNews is reporting that Garcia has agreed to a 4yr deal with Cleveland. How does that affect his fantasy value? Where will Couch end up? Dallas?

Cleveland was supposed to be the Mecca for fantasy WRs in 2003. No team had more starting WRs per league than them I'm betting. This by itself probably doesn't mean much for Cleveland real game or fantasy wise. Their big problem last year was the players on their o-line were dropping like flies. I haven't heard anything about them doing anything in FA, so you can only hope that the guys they have come back healthy and are as good as advertised.

In a press release by Couch:

The Cleveland FO has assured me that I will have every opportunity to win the starting job. With that, I've signed a new contract for $20K/1 year with the understanding that I will drive Mr. Garcia anywhere he wants to go. Yes, I have to call him 'Mr. Garcia'. I also was just informed that the new rule in the NFL is that (if by some strange chance I don't win the starting job) backup quarterbacks are no longer allowed in the stadium until they are needed in the game. They must wear a chauffer's suit and wait by the car that is used to drive Mr. Garcia around in...

Do you think NOW Couch will get the idea????

25 mil contract. I think garcia will stay about the same next year. Couch could end up in Dallas, but I've also heard talk of him in Pittsburgh. I about died when i saw this on ESPN though :-o

Finally a decent QB....i can breathe easier now... :-°

Couch will probably head to Dallas. At least thats my opinion. If not then he'll just be cut altogether. Cleveland's FO did a number on him thats for sure. They made him look like a bad guy for "not wanting to resturcture his contract." Ah well...

Now we just need to get a few big boys to block for Garcia and Suggs (or Green), and a good shut down corner and we'll be back in business. Finally something to cheer about....it's bout damn time!! :-D

I guess his Dad wasn't the final arbitor of Garcia's football life. Good for the Browns. I like watching Cleveland games, and maybe now they will be able to win some of these games in the 3rd quarter instead of waiting/losing them in the last minutes of the 4th quarter. I'd say the Browns receivers are worth looking at as #3's or backups at this point. I also wonder what type of offensive system they will put in place there - go to a West Coast style or stay with the single back "teacup" receiver offense that they used a lot last year.

Ya I think Couch will be a Cowboy next season especially if he isnt willing to resturcture his contract. At this point if I was Couch I would be asking for my walking papers.

As for Garcia it is good and bad for him. He does have a good group of WRs in Cleveland but a suspect running game. I would say Cleveland drops his value to a damn good back up but we shall see!!!!!!

Garcia has had a tough life - its good to see him going somewhere where he is wanted.

A mobile QB will open things up a bit for the Cleveland offense and I think that it adds a little value to all Browns o talent.
