I dont see any other posts about it yet, so here it is:
Charlie Garner and Jon Gruden are together again. The Buccaneers announced the signing of the former Raider running back on Tuesday afternoon. Contract terms were not released, but the Tampa Tribune reports the deal to be worth between $18 and 23 million over four years, including a $4 million signing bonus. Garner was hampered by a left knee injury for most of last year and underwent surgery last Friday to have his torn meniscus repaired, but the expectation is that he will be back to full strength in time for training camp. "I plan on getting my burst back," Garner said during the press conference to announce his signing.
Garner essentially replaces the long-ago departed Warrick Dunn in Tampa's offense. In 2003, the Bucs struggled to find any semblance of a consistent running game behind Michael Pittman and Thomas Jones. With any luck, it will be an entirely different story in 2004, as the Pewter will be powered by Garner and Mike Alstott, who is also returning from a season marred by injury.
