Jacksonville, FL (Sports Network) - The Jacksonville Jaguars signed free agent Deon Grant, the former starting free safety from the NFC champion Carolina Panthers, to an undisclosed contract on Wednesday.
Grant, who turns 25 in four days, recorded 77 tackles, one sack and three interceptions in 2003. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder started every game for the Panthers over the last three seasons.
Grant will be reunited with Jacksonville head coach Jack Del Rio, who was the Panthers' defensive coordinator in 2002.
The signing comes just one day after Jacksonville inked free agent cornerbacks Dewayne Washington and Lewis Sanders to bolster the secondary.
