Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed free agent linebacker and special teams standout Jeff Gooch on Wednesday.
Gooch will be entering his ninth NFL season, playing the last two years with the Detroit Lions. He did not miss a game in his two years in the Motor City, and recorded 26 tackles in 2003.
"Jeff adds a lot of versatility to our linebacking corps," said Tampa head coach Jon Gruden. "He also brings dynamic leadership and playmaking skills to our special teams units."
The Bucs released Gooch after the 2001 season, after he spent the first six years of his career in Tampa and started 24 games.
