Falcons add depth to O-line

Postby WebHamster » Thu Mar 11, 2004 2:01 am

Flowery Branch, GA (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Falcons signed unrestricted free agent offensive lineman Eric Beverly Wednesday.

Beverly heads to Atlanta after six seasons with the Detroit Lions, where he started at center for the first 13 games of 2003 before being placed on injured reserve with a sprained ankle. He also played at guard during his tenure with the Lions.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound lineman was originally signed by Detroit as a rookie free agent out of Miami of Ohio in 1997. Beverly has appeared in 92 career games, starting 41 of them.

Yeah, I mean, do they need an O-line with Vick? ;-)
I think they need to zero in on defense for the most part this offseasin. ;-D

Actually, O-line is very important because Vick IS the Falcons. Fans pay to see that guy. New O-Line coach Alex Gibbs is one of the best and I was sad to see him leave the Broncos. He'll do a MUCH better job at protecting Vick and giving him time to throw. Keeping Vick healthy and active equals ticket sales.....simple as that.

But true.....their defense is sad and will undoubtedly lose many games for them this year.

What's their cap situation?
