Cafe poll oversight or hating?

Postby moochman » Fri Mar 12, 2004 11:16 am

The Cafe is usually a place where fans of all denominations can meet together and exchange thoughts, rumors and humor. Heck, they even allow a few Cardinal post every now and then! But what leaves me feeling slighted is the lastest Cafe poll: Which of these teams had the best off-season so far?
There is no mention of the Lions. While no one expects them to contend next season, I think they have made some great strides in trying to turn around a team that has been the worse in the league over the last 3 years. They upgraded their staff with Jauron, a noted defensive genious-BRILLIANT! ;-D They addressed areas of weakness with the influx of talented F/As who are in their early prime (26 years old)-BRILLIANT! ;-D They are in position now to draft to fill other areas of need-with their draft history SACRY! 8-o
I could see them going 7-9, or even 8-8 next year, which would be quantum leaps for them. Yet this has gone unnoticed by the Cafe pollsters! I'm not saying that the Lions had the best off-season, but how about a little recognition. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. Love the Cafe, and most who have suffered through my posts realize I post with humor, never anger. Just though it funny how the Lions get no love.

i've been saying all along how the lions should do much better next season. hey, the panthers just went to the superbowl two seasons removed from a 1 and 15 season. you're right they have done nothing but good for themselves this offseason. (surprisingly good actually) if they manage to snatch sean taylor in the draft and a good rb in the second round or if they pick up a back who performs well (hearst?) their team will be much improved and i can actually see them going 10 and 6. especially since they are an NFC team.

i actually think some of those teams had bad offseasons... (miami - feeley? !+) , indianapolis - lost meadows, washington, san fran - lost TO, hearst, garcia, more jr.) and im not to impressed with philly's lack of a wr signing or new englands doing nothing. they arent the only team who did nothing!

so yes, i think detroit had a better offseason then all of those teams and should be included.

Get a running back and I'll start believing in Detroit.

Detroit at best is the 3rd best team in that division. Years upon years of futility (with Barry Sanders no less) aren't going to change with the signing of Tai Streets, Damien Woody, and Fernando Bryant. I agree the lions should be better next year, but their record will not be much improved. I see a 6-10 season at best.

BTW the team I look for the break out next season is the Jacksonville Jaguars, they have a great RB, one of the best young o-lines, an emerging stud QB, and a chance to grab a stud WR in the draft.

On D they were lockdown against the run this year and the additions of Dewayne Washington and Deon Grant should improve their secondary. I see them around 9-7 even in a tough NFC South.

Dewayne Washington couldn't improve my high school's secondary. All Dre Bly will have to do is scratch his a$$ the whole game and watch the footballs come down on Washington's side of the field like rain drops.
