I think he ultimately will be. But the eagles will trade for him.
That said, rumours I have heard, nothign substantial is that he may have a recording of the niners agreement to give him a say -- so that may be mitigating.
Also San Fran was factually wrong on the number of years he had left on hsi contract. I am sure there are legal issues we aren't aware of.
It certianly helps his cause that the hearing will be in person and not jsut subject to the league. If the eagles didn't have a case, I would think they would have already traded for him.
I also think the idea that san fran summarily rejected the eagles is a touch bogus perhaps. I mean anything they got for owens at that point was "Free" free in the sense that it was an unexpected bonus. And, they knew there were only two suitors anyway. So I do think it is plausable that they came to terms, then shopped said terms to the ravens.
I mean it would have been lopsided int he eagles favor, but at the same time, the niners were trying to rid themselves of a player they didn't want, and one who didn't want to be there. so it is plausable that they would ahve taken what they could get.
You also have the issue of the ravens having a player who is already disgruntled. I think the eagles trade for him to be honest.
Although as an eagles fan, I am not 100 percent on him being on the team anyway. He is great, but he is also a punk beyond reproach. I like that the team is a bunch of basically standup guys, even if the fans aren't.
let's see what happens.
