Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed free agent punter Josh Bidwell on Saturday.
Bidwell punted 69 times for a 41.7 yard average for the Green Bay Packers last season, dropping 16 punts inside the 20 with only seven touchbacks.
"We are looking forward to having Josh on our team," said Tampa head coach Jon Gruden. "He has displayed capable punting in adverse conditions."
The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder was a fourth-round pick of the Packers in 1999.
Tampa needed a new punter after 15-year veteran Tom Tupa, who punted 83 times for a 43.3 gross average and a 35.9 net average for the Bucs in 2003, signed with the Washington Redskins on Tuesday.
