Where is Couch going to end up?

Postby Flux » Sun Mar 14, 2004 11:51 am

Dallas and Pitt seemed to be the front runners, but now Dallas has Henson, and Pitt has claimed they have no interest in him. Pittsburg may just be saying that so they don't have to give anything up for him, but where else do people see Couch going?

San Diego could use someone with an arm
Arizona isn't all that confident in McNown
Miami may be rethinking AJ? - very unlikely though b/c of what they gave up
Dallas may still want some insurance
Falcons still want a backup to Vick who can actually somewhat play
TB was looking for a QB in Garcia and Johnson is getting older every minute
Raiders could use some help with old man Gannon and his sad backups

Really hope he comes to Pittsburgh, we need him here! Maddox was a disappointment last season, maybe its time he retires permanently. He would be a real help here. ;-D

It also wouldn't hurt having the ex-QB from a division rival in your system.

Aside from Quincy Carter and Drew Henson, who does Dallas have at the QB position (Chad Hutchinson is in Europe)? If Couch would come cheap enough, it wouldn't be a bad signing, I 'spose.

San Diego may seem logical, but they already have two below average QBs in Drew Brees and Doug Flutie.

Arizona recently signed Shaun King as insurance to Josh McCown.

Miami has more pressing needs than adding another average QB to their roster.

Falcons could use a backup.

I don't think Tim Couch fits in with what Jon Gruden is looking for in a QB.

Raiders could be interested, I 'spose. Depends what they envision for Tui in the future.

Pittsburgh may just try and drive Couch's asking price down a bit. Tommy Maddox is decent enough though, and can hold the fort for another year or two while they develop a rookie QB.

...I'd bet on Dallas or Atlanta.

i wouldn't doubt it. no one will be willing to give Cleveland any compensation for him. a team may get him after he is released, but i don't see him staying with that team for very long. i think he'll have as a great a career as Akili Smith. :-t

At this point I don't see anyone wanting him for their future, just a quick fix. But if he gets a shot somewhere, who knows what will happen. He's been up and down his whole career, and lets face it he didn't mesh well w/ clelveland and its' fans. Maybe a new team can and fans will give him some confidence and rekindle a flame.

That being said, the only place in my opinion with a starting job still available is SD, and they seem to be more interested in Kitna, but the bengals want to keep them. If things fall through maybe they will pick couch up, but they haven't even mentioned his name as far as i know
