Former 49ers coach Hecker dies

Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - Former San Francisco 49ers coach Norb Hecker has passed away at the age of 76.

Hecker coached the linebackers and defensive backs from 1979-86. Hecker was an All-America selection at Baldwin College in Berea, Ohio.

He began his career with the Los Angeles Rams and played wide receiver and defensive back. Hecker also spent one season with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL in 1954 before signing with the Redskins from 1955-57.
