Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Texans signed free agent Mark Bruener on Monday.
Bruener, a reliable veteran tight end, had spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Bruener has played in 125 games -- 108 starts -- with the Steelers, catching 137 balls for 1,197 yards and 16 touchdowns.
The 6-foot-4, 260-pounder was drafted by Pittsburgh with the 27th overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft out of Washington. He stepped into the Steelers lineup that year and started during a Super Bowl XXX loss to Dallas.
