franchise player ??

A few of my owners have kicked around the idea of keeping only one player...using the "franchise tag" in our draft anew league. Others feel this is going to take some fun out of the draft (one owner cried, "I want a shot at Priest!").
This group of owners is way too green for a full fledged keeper program, but I want to be able to increase the intricacy of the league year on year. I'm thinking that a "francise player" might be a good addition for their second season.
If you can give me pros and cons for this idea, you would be helping a great deal. Thanks!

We do the same thing in our league. But if you decide to keep a player, you forfeit the draft pick you used on him. For example, one guy took Stee Smith in a very late round. He is going to keep him and forfeit his 12th or 13th round pick(whatever round it was). Also, you cant franchise the same player more than once.

A keeper or two never hurt anyone.

If you have a league full of pansies who only want to do a redraft league each n every year, tell em to play yahoo instead.

I think its a great idea, as long as you're not proposing they can franchise a player from last year's redraft league. In other words, you need to go into the draft knowing one of your players will be kept...

Also, If you go this route, draft order the following year should be determined by order of finish rather than randomly selected.
