Kevin Jones Tries Again...

ProFootballTalk.com wrote:One of our observers at Virginia Tech's second Pro Day which was held today (kind of redundant, right?) tells us that RB Kevin Jones fared better this time around in his 40 (4.51 -- still not that great of a time), 3 cone drill (6.9), short shuttle (4.04) and broad jump (10-6). Surprisingly, though, only about 7 to 10 teams attended the festivities, with the Texans entourage leaving after CB DeAngelo Hall finished working out.

Several observers noted that Jones seemed more relaxed since (1) he did not over train this week leading to the workout and (2) Daddy Dearest was not there. One scout noted "he (Jones) didn't run like he had a stick up his ass this time."

On the flipside of his dropping stock one NFC scout said...

"He's the best back to come out in the last three years," the scout said. "He's got a chance to be something else. If I was in the top 10 and needed a back, I would take him as the best player in the draft."

I could see him sliding to New England or maybe even Denver.

As a Hokie and a Bronco fan that would make me EXTREMELY happy if he fell to Denver (and they took him).

Still fairly a weak time. Jones is a real good back however and he'll probably be a steal in the draft thanks to these poor 40 times. BTW there's no chance he falls to Denver. Steven Jackson will go to NE at worst and that would leave Jones in Dallas. The only conceivable situation would be if Greg Jones leapfrogs Kevin in the RB rankings.

I already traded for Dillon in the Mock draft. I took a replacement for McCaffrey instead.
