Report: Bengals nab Gardener

Staff/Wire reports

The Denver Post reported Sunday that the Bengals have reached an agreement with defensive tackle Daryl Gardener on a four-year, $9.3 million contract, and that the deal will be announced this week.

The Post said Gardener will be released by the Broncos June 1, at which time he will officially be allowed to sign with Cincinnati.

Gardener would help bolster the defensive line. The Bengals earlier released former starting tackle Oliver Gibson.

Beat me to it Phunk ;-D ....I've been hearing whisperings about Gardener coming to Cincy for a while now. This is great news. The thing I love about it is that the contract is reported to be extremely heavy on incentives, making him actually have to "earn" his jack. Gardener had a huge year under Marvin Lewis in Washington. Hopefully Coach Lewis can work some more of his magic w/ Gardener if this all pans out.

Here's another link out of Denver basically saying the same thing:

Another good move by the bengals. They have now successfully gotten their DB and DL before the draft. This gives them so many options on who they can pick now, without being forced into picking a subpar player just to fill a position

And their smart moves just keep going up. They sign him and I officially declare my prediction of the dethroning of the ravens, atleast its not the browns.

Gardener could be good, but don't forget how not good he was in Denver. Still a nice move by the Bengals.

Marvin ought to get him going again. I like the move, wish the Skins had signed him. :,-(

;-D

The greedy get greedier...

If Gardner signs, that would be a nice move by the Bengals.

Oh, the 'Skins signed a bunch of people this offseason... problem is that they signed a bunch of DL's who are pretty pedestrian. For example, none of the guys they signed had more than 3 sacks last year (and Daniels was flat out released by the Bears).

Sure, they're better than they were at DL last year, but that's not saying a whole lot.
