There's no doubt in my mind that they overpaid. They gave up 2 first round picks, a third, and a fifth. Heck, even if Rivers is a huge bust, they still have two first round picks next year to take a QB.

Wait, I think you are confused about what NY can gave up.

NY gave: rights to Phillip Rivers, 3rd round 2004, 1st and 5th round 2005

SD gave: rights to Eli Manning

I think he said it right VHawk. He was saying if Rivers messes up, next year they will have 2 picks to recover ;-D

And yeah they definately overpaid IMO

That's what I though. Essentially they gave up two first round picks, one next year and Rivers this year. Sorry I wasn't more clear on that. They also still have their own first round pick in next year's draft.
