When you look at Bell, you can see some similarities between him and Portis. Both are pretty small, find holes well, have good speed...and didn't Portis have some fumbling problems like Bell has?

Now we'll have to see if Bell can have a Portis-esque rookie year.

If that comes to be, Denver would be looking pretty sharp for making the Portis/Bailey deal. Everyone keeps forgetting about that 2nd rounder Washington threw in.

Champ Bailey and Tatum Bell for Clinton Portis doesn't sound too bad as it stands now, but realistically I wouldn't expect Bell to do a whole lot this season other than spot duty behind Hearst.

Damn Hawk, you took the words right out of my mouth... And he is Michael Bennett-esque, IMO.....

I have heard but not really seen much of Tatum Bell...what I have seen, he looks stud-like, which is why I'm surprised I haven't seen more of him. I guess we'll see what happens.

Another Bell/Portis similarity! Bell took Portis' old number.

Bell has the scariest breakaway speed of any of the RBs in the draft. He fits the Bronco mold and if he can hold onto the ball he could be the feature back in Denver by the end of the season. If he is more Tiki than Freaky he will be a situational back and see limited action. Could be a top 15 or not worth having.

Yep, seems like it depends on your fantasy situation...if you can afford to gamble, he could be your guy.

I see someone having the starting job. I don't believe Shanahan is a fan of the RBBC. I haven't seen Bell play much but he's got to have enough talent to start in Denver. I know this isn't the case but it seems like whoever they drop into that offense does really well.

Like I said the Broncos passed on the chance to have Jackson, Perry, or Jones. Shanahan is well known for picking up "less talented" backs and making them into stars. In my estimation, the Broncos either

A. Really liked Bell and knew they could get him in the 2nd round

OR

B. Had a number of guys who they really didn't care which one they got, decided they would take one in the 2nd round, and chose the highest back left according to their sheets.

I think Bell will be given a good opportunity to take the job. He's a great fit for Denver's offense.
