Jacksonville.com wrote:Wide receiver Jimmy Smith was startled and flattered when the Jaguars told him the Baltimore Ravens had called to offer a second-round pick for his services during the NFL Draft last weekend.
The Jaguars told the Ravens they had no interest in trading Smith and dealt receiver Kevin Johnson to Baltimore instead. Even if the Jaguars were interested in trading Smith, doing so would be financially troublesome because of his $7 million in remaining signing-bonus amortization.
"I was actually shocked, with me being 35 [years old], that the Ravens offered a second-round pick," Smith said Friday. "That's nice to hear, but ... Jacksonville is my home, and I love it here."
