Why are RBs the most coveted fantasy performers?

KingGhidra wrote:BOOOOO! Have you even seen the three mock drafts I've done? RB in the 4th round baby! I'm starting to take a reactionary approach to the two RBs position. People get so dead set on drafting those two RBs that the position is diluted by the end of the second round. No one left is worth taking before round four. Rather collect on WRs/TEs that slip through the cracks in the zealotry of the two RB camp. I can't wait to see how our draft pans out. :-b

Again KG, there you go stealing my ideas!

In the mocks I've been in, everyone has been going overboard on the 2 RB theory. I'm looking to snag a couple WRs and Gonzo early, then sit back and wait on my 2nd RB.

I mean yes, RB is the most important position in FF.....but drafting guys like Stephen Davis and Westbrook when Ward and CJ are still on the board? That's just taking it a little too far.

I'm in the same boat as Bagel, well said BBB, Mercer, and KG. It's not so much about points scored, it's about differences. Your top 10 numbers actually demonstrate how valuable having a top tier RB can be. While the top few (Priest, LT, Ahman) bring the average way up, most of the others bring the averages of points for RBs down. Because of this, the prospect of having one (or even two) of the high-tiered backs (anyone from Priest to Edge, IMO) is much more enticing then having a Culpepper (when guys who put up close numbers, such as Hasselbeck) can be taken rounds later.
Your theory that RBs go early only because they are believed to be "going fast" is an interesting one, and has merit. But that is not the only reason they go first; they are the most valuable and scarce, as has been said and repeated, and RBs is the position where the least parity exists. Because of lack of parity, that is why they are the key to fantasy success, and will usually determine the outcome of games. If you are even with opponents at QB and WR (which is likely, unless you are in the rare case with Randy Moss on your side), the RBs will of course be the deciding factor. And you want the decision to go to your side. For this to happen, solid (and as many as you can get) RBs are a neccessity.

On top of the fact that most fantasy leagues start 2 RB and 1 QB, many NFL teams have gone the way of RBBC, making the situation even worse.

Do we know what scoring system you are using? If you give 6pts to any td, then of course qbs will match up with rbs. Please give us the scoring details, thanks.

As its been said before theres between a number of 10 to 20 teams in leauge 10 being the most use, out of the teams in the NFL there are only about 24 rbs good enough to have and most league you start 2 rb's while only 1 qb and you have a sure good bet that you can still win your league with the 10 to 15th ranked qb if u have the rb's backing them.
