The News
A week after being released by the Cowboys, running back Troy Hambrick found himself a new gig by signing a free-agent contract with Oakland, according to the Associated Press. The Raiders also recently signed former Steelers back Amos Zereoue as they attempt to replace the departed Charlie Garner and find someone to carry new coach Norv Turner's power rushing attack. Veteran Tyrone Wheatley and second-year man Justin Fargas are in the mix as well.
Our View
Considering both Hambrick and Amos pissed away their starting jobs last season, we had much higher hopes for the help Turner might hire. Even pursuing veteran free-agent James Stewart and/or unwanted Bears runner Anthony Thomas would have sparked our interest. In this ugly mix, we'd certainly love to see the speedy Fargas get his chance. He's the only one of these four that brings significant fantasy upside to the mix. We'll keep an eye on how this crowded position battle plays out in minicamps.
