-- Cowboys Sign Testaverde; Carter's Position Uncertain -- Thu Jun 3, 2004 --from FFMastermind.com
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Dallas Cowboys have officially signed free agent QB Vinny Testaverde (Jets), who will compete with incumbent QB Quincy Carter for the team's starting job. Carter will have to show marked improvement if he is to retain his starting job. HC Bill Parcells believes Testaverde is a physical marvel and, given time in the pocket, as good as any pocket passer in the league. The Cowboys also like QB Drew Henson, who they traded for earlier this year, and second-year QB Tony Romo, leaving an uncertain future for Carter and QB Chad Hutchinson.
Not really huge news here, but I would love to see Vinny behind center again
I agree, Vinny should just be the vet leadership they want. I thought Parcells was getting to like Quincy, guess not soo much. I think Henson will eventually take over, atleast thats their hope

I agree thats what his role should be, but Carter hasn't impressed me at all. Although Parcells did say that if the line gave him time, and that probably wont happen...
IF Testeverde does indeed start I'd have to look at it like this:
Vinny may not be the most gifted physical athelete, but he's a well respected pocket passer that can get the ball effectively downfield. Defenses won't be able to tee off quite as much on the run as last year
Something they've lacked since Quincy Jones, errrr..Nancy Carter....errrr..Quincy Carter started under center.
Who does this help the most?
Julius.

Only 3 leagues this year. No sense in rooting for everyone in the NFL.
The Cowboys may have a QBBC, with 3 people who could all start for them. I see Quincy starting it out, but after some unfourante experinces, Vinny comes in for a few games, then Henson takes the helm for the rest of the year.
