Why is Ben Troupe so overlooked?

Postby MikeKid » Tue Jun 15, 2004 2:03 am

Am I missing something here?

We know that Wychek was McNair's favorite target. Troupe was also looked at a likely round 1 pick. And McNair is losing offensive weapons like CRAZY! I think that Ben Troupe can and will make an immediate impact in this season.

But am I missing something? He is barely ranked among TEs.

Kinney is what you are missing. The guy is pretty good. I don't expect Troupe to be #1.

yeah, Kinney had basically taken over the starting job and looked pretty decent. They are expected to do some 2 TE sets, but we're looking at a situation like in Indy... both are good, but wont be studs

Kinney IMO will be the man atleast for now, in the future Troupe may get the nod. You dont hear a lot cause he may not play a large role.

He's a rookie.

And a TE rookie at that. Hardly an area of fantasy football concern for myself.

And he's a rookie TE not named Winslow. He does have upside, but there are not many TEs who make an impact as rooks. He should be availible for you in the last rounds, if not as a F/A.

I think, therefore I am. I think fantasy, therefore I am unreal?

Yep, McNair (like Manning) throws it to tons of different people each game. Other than Mason, we can't be sure what we'll get this year. Bennett or Calico will step into McCareins' role. Last year, the Titans' TE was Kinney and Shad Meier - neither was really worth looking at because they weren't a major part of the offense or they were hurt.

Troup will be a great pick just before your kicker. Titan's are
talking like he will be used more like a #4 WR. With Mason,
Bennett and Calico in the game, Troup will have some great
mismatch opprotunities, great size and speed.
