Attention everyone! The forum is up, so we can get this started. Head over to the Blackjack forum and check out the rules (slightly different from the ones in this thread), then post your lineups in the Week 1 thread! Can't wait for kickoff!

Also, if you didn't sign up in this thread, don't worry! The games is open to everyone here at the Cafe - talk about tough competition.

I'm introducing a new game at the Cafe for the upcoming football season. I ran it at another forum last year and it was a big hit.

In short, each week you pick 4 players - a RB, WR, K, and a Wild Card - and you want to get as close to 21 points as possible without going over, similar to blackjack.

Here's the longer version of the rules:

PLAYERS/SCORING

Pick 4 players any of the teams playing in that certain week. They must be a RB, WR, K, and one "wild card" that can be any position. You may pick the same players as someone else, but you may not have 3 of the same players. Just like in blackjack, you must keep your score under 21. If you go over, you lose. So, if you pick Marshall Faulk, and he scored 4 TDs, you bust (He has 24 points). Whoever has the highest without going over wins. You only get points if the player actually scores, so throwing a TD pass DOES NOT COUNT. There is also a tiebreak question every week. The person with the most points without going over 21 (and is closer in the tiebreak if need be) will get 10 dollars (just so they aren't confused with points), the next one will get 9, etc.

DIVISIONS/PLAYOFFS

There will be 32 players in it. There will be four divisions of eight people each. At the end of the season, the top two from each division will make the playoffs. The best team in each division will get a 1st round bye. The four best teams that aren't in the top two of their division will be the wild cards. In the Wild Card Round those eight players will compete, and the top 4 of those will continue on to the Divisional Round. They will compete with the 4 division winners. The top 5 of those will go on to the Conf. Championship Round. The top three of those will play the superbowl, and whoever does the best is the overall champion!

Since there has been so much interest shown, I'm not going to limit this to 32 people. No limit, so keep signin' up!

I'll keep track of standings, weekly earnings, etc., and it will always be readily available for everyone to check out. So, without anything further, respond in this thread if you want to play!

Just to clarify: This game is 100% free. The dollars used in the game are just points...no real money being used here, folks.

And if you give each person an NFL name (because the division format is the same) i want the chargers so they can make the playoffs SOMEWHERE.
