Some of us are looking to start a keeper league. No layout yet. If anyone would like to commish or join up, just say so. Anyone listed or anyone joining can throw out ideas as to our setup. That way we can taylor it to fit us as best as possible.
Listed above are the ones that have stated interest so far, If you guys have preferences on # of keepers, rosters, rules etc... post them. The quicker we get our layout, the easier it will be to recruit members.
I'm flexible on IDP's, but would prefer team defence. I would also like a web site unless someone can come up with an alternative that would allow equal access to league info. I'm with Vikes on head-to-head matchup & it being a free league.
I think that we should just stick to regular defenses. That's common and in terms of the league, we can use Yahoo once it's up and running. If Vikes is gonna be the commish, he'll have the important responsibility of setting up everything.
# of Keepers?
I like the idea of 2 keepers, with the most possible being 4. Everyone gets (must) keep two players. If they want to keep a 3rd, that GM will forfeit their first round pick in the next years draft. IF they want to keep a 4th player, then that GM will forfeit their 2nd round pick in the next years draft. Also, I believe the maximum time that you should be able to keep a player is 3 years.
These are just common rules that I've seen in other keepers.
Like JohnnyTitan said, I'll be commish, I would like to get a person in the league with a lot of keeper league knowledge and experience, who could act as a vice-president. That way we would have someone who could help us decide how to get it all set up.

I will then compile a LEAGUE DATA roster of the GMs. And we'll slowly build upon our league from there. I have no problem helping out Vikes to determine our blueprint. The better planning we do now, the more effective our league we do. We don't want it to falter in these weeks.

My main preference is that the league is free...wbaaoz's keeper ideas sound good. 10+ teams also seems like a healthy amount.
In addition to number of teams, roster structure/depth, scheduling, and the scoring system are things we should consider.
