I'm seriously thinking of laying down a hunk of change for the purchase of an HDTV in time for the NFL season. Any of you guys currently own one and what is your experience with it?
i got a 55" high-def widescreen tv and watching sports in hi-def is simply amazing. im still waiting to watch football in high-def, so far all i have watched is boxing, golf, basketball and there is a huge difference.
What kind did you get? Projection, plasma, LCD, or the new DLP models. I'm thinking of a Samsung DLP 43" HD. Also do you have it hooked up to cable, satellite, or over the air for your HD feed?

I concur.
When I finally move out of the old homestead, my first purchase will be a plasma TV. I think I want one that is HDTV ready, but I know those cost a fortune right now. Hopefully in another year or two they will below $4,000.

Ive got a 42" plasma in the basement. I of course watch the DLP since its bigger, but they are both very nice.
EDIT: Ive got cable with HD channels, I plan on switching to Direct TV soon though, NFL ticket
Which has the better picture, the plasma or the DLP? I know I can't afford a plasma, but I have actually heard that the latest DLP's are just as good picture wise.
Also guys, not to dissappoint you, but I have NFL Sunday ticket (got to get my Vikes, even though I now live in South Carolina) and it is great, but the games aren't broadcast in HD. It is my understanding that currently the only games broadcast in HD are Monday Night Football, and the ESPN Sunday Night games.

I think this is inaccurate...I distinctly remember the Wednesday Game of the Week on NFL Network is in HD...that would require you to have DirecTV, but still, it's another HD game to watch.

I think you are right!! You would think that I would have remembered that since I have been a Directv customer since 1998 (along w/NFL ticket). Also, you can get an HD TV for less than $4000 as long as it is not a plasma. I am eager to hear back from Nittny about the comparison between plasma and DLP because he has both (the guy must be hauling in some serious jing!) DLP's are as low as $2300 for a 43 inch widescreen HD TV.
