He really has no reason to leave something that he likes doing. He loves teaching the young players about fundamental basketball and the college atmosphere at Duke. I don't think there is a good enough reason for him to go coach young players who just have raw individual talent over ones that really want to play like a team. So what if his players are leaving for the NBA...that's the way things are these days due to the money involved.
Could Mike pull a Larry Brown? That's my other question. Rick Pitino is a good college coach who never seemed to pan out in the NBA. Coach K may do the exact same thing if he were to try - especially coaching the Lakers who look like they will be dead in the water next year. That's why I'm hoping he stays put.
Plus, why leave a team that is contending for the title every year?
Theres only one reason, and its a pretty damn good one. Money.
I'd be shocked if Coach K left Duke. Now that Shaq and Kobe are gone but the expectations to win remain, he really can't succeed in L.A. He's a living legend in college basketball, why risk tarnishing the legacy by going to the pros, where he doesn't have nearly the experience? Some guys are meant to be college coaches, and while I'm not positive Coach K couldn't succeed in the NBA, I think he'd be much better off staying put.
As for the money drawing him into the NBA, that could be. But it's not like he's struggling to put food on the table these days.
'Twas a fun year, fellas.

Shaq and Kopbe aren't gone yet. But I think Kobe will resign.
the rumour is phoenix offered him some 6 year 100 mil deal???&^%$
First off, the Lakers can offer 7 years and something like 130 million, so their offer is better than Phoenix's. And Phoenix can't sign Kobe now that they have agreed to a contract with Steve Nash, which leaves little cap room left.
