Just saw this on cbssportsline....

Michael Bennett, RB MIN

News: The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the team might be interested in trading Michael Bennett if Onterrio Smith continues to improve.

Analysis: The team has nice depth at the running back position with Smith, Moe Williams and rookie Mewelde Moore. Bennett is still worth drafting in the middle rounds of all Fantasy leagues.

Any truth to this, and how does it affect his draft status?

Considering it's from CBS Sportsline, this doesn't phase me a bit. Michael Bennett is still the man in Minnesota and will get some nice yardage numbers and a few TDs.

Onterrio Smith put up some nice numbers against weak defenses (ala Kevan Barlow and Lee Suggs). He's good, but I don't see why people think he's going to take Bennett's job - Brock Forsey put up 134 rushing yards against Arizona and no one seems to think he's going to be a threat to Thomas Jones or Anthony Thomas.

If I want one of Minnesota's backup RBs, I'll be taking Moe Williams over Onterrio Smith.

Bennett is the man this year in MIN. He wont see a ton (if any) goal-line carries. Moe Williams and O. Smith will steal some carries, but it shouldnt be anything huge. I could see MIN trading Bennett though if they think Smith really was the SOD.

Another vote for Bennett. He will get the most touches, and with his speed, he'll maximize them.

I'll have to go with Bennett. All early indications are that he is completely healthy. I do like O. Smith though, but I don't exactly see the Vikings as a grind it out offense no matter who's at RB. They want quick scores which usually means they'll go with speed.
I may be a Bengals fan (since '81), but I know my Football.

I can't believe someone had the balls to ask this! :-# Anyways, yeah, Bennett just got another vote. You say Onterrio has impressed you? He has done NOTHING that Bennett hasn't. Bennett proved in his last healthy campaign that he was a Pro Bowl caliber player! Poor Bennett, this should have been a clean sweep...

I have always loved Bennett and his speed. I think he has the ability that when he finds a hole, he goes through fast as lightning and can break big gains. I like Moe as a receiving back though. And Onterrio can give Bennett a break with all the running he does ;-)
