ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reports while the Seattle Seahawks will pursue a new deal with QB Matt Hasselbeck, there are some team officials wary of an extension for RB Shaun Alexander, who is also entering the final year of his contract. His solid numbers aside, some in Seattle feel that Alexander ranks at only about the middle of the pack among NFL tailbacks.

Losing Shaun would mean losing their anchor. Well I believe they could live without him, why take that risk.

Maurice Morris would be almost as effective as Alexander is, the team that gives Alexander a big contract are a bunch of suckers.

Doesn't Seattle have some new guy from Canada that's supposed to be pretty awesome?

Kerry Carter. He was injured most of last year, so I never really got to see him play (aside from training camp in Cheney - but everyone looks pretty decent in training camp).

I'll be very surprised if Shaun's in Seattle Blue next season.

Same here. From what I've been reading over the last couple years, Mike Holmgren has a man crush on Maurice Morris. Morris has looked decent with his limited carries, but I don't know if he's capable of being the workhorse RB that Shaun Alexander should be (if Holmy would use him right).

It looks like Holmy is going to hand over the entire offense to Hass and the receivers...

Plus, Seattle's going to have to make a choice between Alexander and Walter Jones (assuming Hasselbeck gets his extention) next year. I 'spose they think that SA is easier to replace than Jones...

There's going to be some big name RBs available after this season... Shaun Alexander, Edgerrin James, Travis Henry...
