Former Pro Bowl middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter returned to the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday, agreeing to a one-year contract.

Trotter's deal, believed to be worth less than $1 million, is contingent upon his passing a physical on Thursday.

Trotter, 27, spent the last two seasons with the Washington Redskins after playing four years for the Eagles and making the Pro Bowl twice. He left Philadelphia following a bitter contract dispute in 2002, but never lived up to the seven-year, $35 million contract he received from the Redskins.

This was definetly a smart signing by the Eagles, I think Trotter can still be a player in the league and the Eagles LB corps is weak, plus for that price, how can you go wrong?

Good move for Philly. My guess is at least another Conference Championship game, maybe finally past it this year

good move, but i think they will get what they pay for out of trotter. fantasy wise, i dont think this changes my or anyones rankings of the philly defense, just a little more assurance.

The Eagles have 3 solid LB starters (Jones and Simoneau seem to be vastly underrated), but very little depth beyond that. As with when Emmons got injured, the prospect of Ike Reese starting is not pleasant. Trotter gives them that much needed depth, and at a great price. If he's fully recovered from his injury, then he gives them a 4th starting quality LB.
